Lovely! Today is a Beautiful Sunday!
Sundays are great days!
I rest a lot on Sundays.
This morning was a good time spent with God. The serenity was still and I know God is there. “Be still and know that I am God”, indeed God is there in the stillness!
Was reading on Proverb 23:12 - 35 and it starts with applying my heart to instruction and your ears to words of knowledge. This whole entire passage talks simply about listening to our parents. It speaks to both parents and children. v13-14 - Parents, “do not withhold discipline from a child; if you punish him with the rod, he will not die. Punish him with the rod and save his soul from death.”
To the child, he says v22 - “Listen to your father, and do not despise your mother when she is old.” In v19-20 it says - “Listen, my son, and be wise, and keep your heart on the right path. Do not join the..drunkards..gluttons…”
Through all these years of growing up, my parents have always been very protective over me; nagging, disciplining, scolding me in which many a times in ways that I do not like. Today this passage shed some light on the purpose of of them doing all these. It is true that everyone needs to be taught and disciplined for we by human nature are naturally bad and no one needs to teach us to do bad stuff.
If my parents had not stepped in to discipline me and had spared the rod, I guess I would be living a godless and sinful life right now - one that is without hope.
As thanksgiving, God thank you for giving me Dad and Mum as guardians over me, training me in righteousness. I can’t choose my parents but I can choose to love and accept those you have placed over me. Thank you Lord! Amen!
